Where can gift cards be used?
VISA® gift cards can be used anywhere VISA® debit cards are accepted. It can be used at thousands of retailers, restaurants, entertainment locations, and online.
Who can buy gift cards?
Gift cards are sold exclusively to Blue Ridge Bank customers.
Are gift cards the same as credit cards?
No. Gift cards are prepaid VISA® cards that carry a fixed cash amount determined by the gift card purchaser. Each time you use the card, the purchase amount is deducted from the available balance.
Can gift cards be reloaded?
Individual cards cannot be reloaded, but you always have the option to purchase additional cards.
Is there a minimum/maximum amount? Is there a fee at the time of purchase?
The minimum amount to load on a gift card is $25 and the maximum is $1000. There is a low $3 fee per card at the time of purchase.
Can a merchant give cash back on a gift card?
No. Merchants can deduct purchases from gift card accounts, but they cannot offer cash back as part of the gift card service.
Do gift cards have expiration dates?
Yes. Gift cards expire when the remaining balance reaches $0 or on the expiration date shown on the front of the card, whichever comes first. Once the card expires, any remaining funds will no longer be available. A $5.00 inactivity fee is deducted from the card balance on the first day of each month after 12 full months of inactivity.
